The answer of Sadhguru to the question: How Do You Recognize An Enlightened Being?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQrhl7KJ0m4

This was one of the comments to the video:

-No desire to compete or compare yourself with others.

-No desire to “improve” yourself or change other people and their viewpoints.

-Complete acceptance of what is, instead of fighting against reality.

-An enlightened being takes life as it is, instead of trying to impose their will in every situation.

It taught me what it means to use every moment as a tool to reach enlightenment.

The way he talks about meditation is really relevant to my current situation, it was just what I needed to hear. I hope it hits you as much as it hit me.

Thoughts and realizations:

I bring you the idea of mental minimalism.

Just as we are addicted to acquiring more material stuff, we are also addicted to acquiring more knowledge.

Minimalists only acquire material things that bring them some real joy. Why would you want things that don’t bring any value to your life?

With the same mindset, why would you want knowledge that only makes you look and feel smart but does not give you some real peace, some real progress?

The next time you acquire new knowledge, think if it will bring you closer to your truth. If it doesn’t, it will just clutter your mind, just as material things clutter your house.

But the best part about mental minimalism is that you don’t need to declutter your mind, you just need to stop adding new stuff and the old will start to vanish. Your mind declutters itself, you just need to spot adding.

On the video above, Sadhguru says that modern society mistakes memory and intelligence.

Deep down, we know this is true. We know that knowing a lot of things does not make you smart, it does not make you more creative and it certainly does not make you happier.

So, why do you search for more knowledge?

What does more information add to your life?

Because you want people around you to think you are smart? That´s a sign of misery.

Because you want to make the world a better place? You can’t, it is already perfect.

Do you want to be happy? Don’t search for knowledge.

With this, I don’t mean that knowledge is bad, I mean that you should not search for it, you should not want more of it. The knowledge you need to live a healthy, fulfilling, and happy life will get to you when you are ready, you don’t need to seek it.

When you need it, it will get to you no matter what, because that knowledge is inside you. So, the right knowledge, the one that makes you happy, that brings you closer to peace, that brings you closer to yourself, will come if you stop seeking for more knowledge.

The seeking is the real trap, not the knowledge.

Do you know when you get to the end of the day, and you are psychologically drained? I mean, you are tired but not physically, your mind is foggy, and you make really bad decisions.

This is a sign that you spent your hole day involved in the dramas of life and you did not pay attention to the present moment.

This means that you are being affected by the exterior things and you are not paying attention to your inner peace.

This means your mind has been racing all day long, you have been stressed all day. And sometimes you are so used to the stress that you don’t notice it, but it still drains you.

When you get to a higher level of spirituality, a level where you are aware in every moment, the mind is always resting. There are no big efforts being made during the day and you will never get to the end of it tired.

The mind being still, even in stressful situations, it’s a real superpower. Nothing will drain you, nothing will even feel like work.

So, if you feel mentally drained at the end of the day, you need to go deeper into yourself, you need to go deeper into the present.

But don´t feel sorry for yourself if you think you are behind, if you are not as conscious as you would like.

Our intellect is always in front of ourselves. You are on the path, but your eyes are always looking ahead. And because we can see the path forward before we step into it, we feel sorry for ourselves because we are not there yet.

We feel sorry for ourselves because we know the next step and we are yet to take it.

So, don’t feel sorry for yourself, don´t worry if you are not where you think you should be, the work will never be over, the important thing is that you are working right now.

Don’t look back.

The past is irrelevant.

The big change can only start now.

Don’t look back.
